Claudia Andujar - Life with the Yanomami
For five decades, Claudia Andujar (*1931) has dedicated herself to the indigenous community of the Yanomami in the Amazon in northern Brazil and accompanies them with her camera. When their habitat is exposed to acute threats in the 1970s, the photographer prescribes her life and work to the fight for the rights of the Yanomami. Her many years of political commitment alongside Yanomami leader Davi Kopenawa and other participants finally led to the demarcation of the country of the community in 1992. Against the background of current events such as ongoing landslides by mining and livestock farming or the spread of malaria and Covid-19, Andujar's activist efforts have not lost their relevance.
